Have you ever thought about making your own jewelry?
Or maybe you’re already making, and could use some support in further developing your skills?
I offer individualized instruction in all aspects of jewelry fabrication in silver and gold, from introductory to advanced levels. Whether you are interested in learning the basics to get started, or need to add or improve certain techniques like soldering or making settings for stones, I offer private, one-on-one instruction in my studio at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.
You will learn by working alongside me at my own workbench, where I create all of my original pieces. You can bring your own tools if you have them, or you can use mine if you don’t. And of course we can talk about strategic approaches to getting started on your own, so you won’t have to buy every tool there is to get started making complete pieces.
Intensive, One-on-One Instruction
I never take more than one student at a time! Very few jewelry courses offer this kind of individualized instruction. With my undivided attention, you will never be waiting while the instructor is busy with other students, and I won’t ever let you make mistakes or mess up your project. Working together this way allows you to learn much more in a short amount of time.
I have over thirty years of experience in the jewelry trade, and I have been making jewelry myself since 1999. Drawing on this extensive experience, I can help you approach learning in a way that serves your goals: whether that’s to learn one specific technique to incorporate into your work, or to begin a comprehensive course of study on the fundamentals of precious metalworking.
